A new charity organisation is aiming to restore public trust in the sector. Charities Institute Ireland will promote best practice and help charities with ethical fundraising, transparent financial reporting and establishing good governance by providing training and tests.

It comes as several organisations have faced a significant drop in donations following a number of scandals in recent months.

The CII already represents 180 charities – including the Irish Cancer Society and Society of St Vincent de Paul.

It’s aiming to attract the top 500, but will welcome all organisations whatever their size.

This package hears from the head of Charities Institute Ireland Lucy Masterson and Lisa-Nicole Dunne from CMRF Crumlin.

First broadcast and published on TodayFM on 3rd November 2016.
