Irish People Spend €7.5bn Per Year Eating Out

Irish people spend seven and a half billion euro every year eating out. Bord Bia’s latest report shows that more people than ever are grabbing food on the go.
It also revealed over a third of all our spending is in quick service restaurants – with coffee shops showing the strongest growth

It shows the market for dining out and “on the go” has grown by 1.5 billion over the past two years and this will continue to grow to over 9 billion euro by 2020.

Maureen Gahan, Food services manager with Bord Bia, says consumers are eating out more than ever before but that consumers want healthy foods that are good value and they want to know where food comes from. She also advised start-ups to carefully consider where the growth will be.
